It’s that time again where we share some of the very best new releases from this week. This collection of tracks comes from ALL genres and styles but with one thing in common, they’re all great tunes.
Let’s get into the Music!
First up it’s Scottish songstress Roma Rose with her track How to Feel. This slow Pop number is a truly feel good tune, easy synths and Roma Rose’s soft vocals create a pure sounding and smooth track. Rolling drums sit underneath Roma’s heavenly harmonies as she spills her honest lyricism. Play this one on a slow Sunday afternoon in the living room.
Next up we have itsreeves with track Left N Right. This talented artist creates ‘product without genre’, a true fusion of elements of Pop, Lo-Fi, R&B and more into a blend that’s smooth sultry and curious. Left N Right is a catchy number with itsreeves’ raw yet subtle vocal style reminiscent of talents such as Mac Miller. This track’s catchy beat and simply pure synths are a certified easy listen.
Next up it’s the ultra smooth Christine Nguyen with track Finding Happiness, feat. Jhalon. This track is pure R&B brilliance, bright guitars, sultry vocals and roomy drum pads. Christine Nguyen’s lyricism has a sad yet beautiful feel to it, an emotive songstress whose soft delivery flows like water. With a sound reminiscent of Jhene Aiko,Christine Nguyen brings talent and potential galore to the table. Listen Below.
The final addition to our Fresh Hit Radar this week is an ethereal electro track from Gefahrgeist titled Graceless. A little different to what you may be listening to but this track is executed excellently. Pure toned vocals, haunting harmonies and some picture perfect production make for a quality electro track from this Scottish duo. An easy feeling electro single that brings a relaxing feel to a typically hectic genre. Take a listen below.
First up it’s Roveena with her power ballad Fly. This smooth yet atmospheric track is pure soulful pop brilliance. With huge vocals, haunting harmonies and soft piano Fly will have you feeling unstoppable. Fly is a cinematic soundscape you won’t want to miss, get ready to be motivated and ready to take on the world after a listen.
Switching it up it’s In The Forest with their Indie-folk track On the Run. This four piece acoustic band harmonises effortlessly to create a vocal blend that is naturally beautiful and purely instinctive. On the Run will have you feeling free as a bird, and ultra relaxed on your weekend. Listen below.
Tacking it up a notch it’s Four Crooks with their stand-out single Black Magic. This track is a driving yet grooving indie-rock track from the four piece. Deep vocals, gritty guitars and a rocking beat leaves us wanting more from this talented foursome. Listen below-
Switching it up for the final track by bringing you a stunning video! These Streets is an accomplished Pop-Rock from Killing Kenny. Accompanied by an emotive and powerful video These Streets is a heartwarming track to soundtrack your weekend. As the UK goes back into lockdown for a second time, Killing Kenny is back to lift our spirits and warm our hearts.
Another Friday, another Fresh Hit Radar feature. This week is really something special, an incredible lineup full of fierce female talent that you’ll find impossible to fault. So, without further delay, let’s dive straight into the music.
Kicking off our list is a debut single from Irish singer-songwriter and vocalist Eiza Murphy. Single Blackhole is Eiza’s first ever release and what a strong start she makes. Emotive, powerful and moving Blackhole is a power ballad that established Eiza Murphy as an incredible songwriter and ethereal vocalist. Eiza Murphy is certainly one to watch in music. Next up is familiar face to the platform Lohrd Snohw with latest track You Look Like A Friend, featuring fellow female talent EM. Light, bouncy and free YLLAF is a feel good track from this fearless duo. Grooving and intriguing this single draws you in and leaves you wanting more. Next up it’s Odillia with her pure R&B brilliance single Break It Down. This track is the perfect middle ground between Pop and Hip-Hop, a seamless blend of style that features none other than Snoop Dogg.Break It Down will have you dancing round the kitchen whilst wishing the clubs were open again.
Rounding up our list is the talented EEVAH with Alt-Pop track Apology. With driving guitars, smooth vocals and rising synths Apology is a stunning single that combines all the best elements of Pop, Electro and rock. A true mixing pot of genre that creates a powerful and attitude packed single from the incredible EEVAH. Apology is Pop Playlister’s first introduction to this artist, making EEVAH our favourite new music discovery of the week.
Singer-songwriter and rising star Jack Rose is back to bless us with another single titled Better On My Own.
Better On My Own is a vibrant and upbeat Pop track from Jack Rose, set for release on 25th September 2020. Collaborating with producer duo SK and featuring that unmistakable hook line from Annie Lennox’s iconic song “No More I You’s” the track is bursting with talent, musicality and bounce.
With a positive yet subliminal message behind the track, Better On My Own lets the listener know that there are times in life when we all need to walk away from a toxic relationship for the good of our own mental health.
A hugely important and prominent message from Jack Rose and one he should be commended for.
Fired up and ready to go, Jack’s latest single firmly establishes him as one of the brightest young talents in the UK music scene. Tipped to be a British Justin Timberlake, it’s no surprise that the new single has been backed with a host of top remixes (Billy Da Kid, Dots Per Inch, Morlando and more).
The hardworking young songwriter has already clocked up an insane 250 live shows and has built a large and fiercely loyal following on social media, and it’s not hard to see why.
Having toured with the legendary Faith Evans and supported the likes of Tinchy Stryder, Shane Lynch (Boyzone), Dane Bowers (Another Level) and Abz Love (Five) to name a few, Jack Rose has cemented himself as next up in UK music and is not one to be slept on.

Lady Gaga was the big winner at the MTV VMAs 2020 tonight (August 30), walking away with five awards.
Three of the star’s trophies were shared with Ariana Grande for their collaborative track ‘Rain On Me’, including Song Of The Year, Best Collaboration and Best Cinematography. The pair also performed the track live for the first time at the socially-distanced ceremony.
Gaga also picked up Artist Of The Year and was awarded the first-ever Tricon Award for her art and philanthropic efforts.
BTS walked away with four Moonman trophies for Best Group, Best Pop, Best K-pop and Best Choreography for ‘On’. The Korean group also gave the debut live performance of their new single ‘Dynamite’.
Video Of The Year went to The Weeknd for ‘Blinding Lights’, who also won Best R&B for the same track. The star used both of his acceptance speeches to call for justice for Jacob Blake and Breonna Taylor.
The ceremony, which was originally scheduled to take place at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center but was moved to various outdoor locations due to the coronavirus pandemic, was hosted by Keke Palmer. The presenter opened the show by paying tribute to Chadwick Boseman, who died on Friday (August 28).
Whilst not a typical VMA ceremony it’s great to celebrate music in the new socially distanced 2020 style. Congratulations to all winners and nominees from this year’s MTV VMAs.
Kicking off this week’s list is Kehina with latest single All Over Again. A soulful masterpiece that sets her out as one of the most exciting talents emerging onto the UK R&B scene. With ethereal vocals, bright guitars and a rolling beat this track is pure, sultry R&B excellence. Kehina is a London based singer-songwriter brimming with talent, potential and prowess. We can’t wait to see what she does next.
Next up it’s Trio Minutes with track Motion Part 2. Trio Minutes is composed of three incredibly talented British sisters and self confessed ‘genre benders’. Blending together Pop, R&B, Electro to name a few with a nostalgic feel to their sound that’s reminiscent of the 80s and 90s. Motion Part 2 is a grooving track from the trio, full of gentle harmonies and catchy hooks, with an effortlessly smooth style that seems to come naturally to the sisters. Trio Minutes are a must have on your next up radar.
Daviies also makes it onto our Fresh Hit playlist with track Your Style. A Nigerian born artist whose Afro-American Rap fusion is truly unique. Your Style is a feel good, commercial track that demonstrates Daviies huge potential for success. A strong introduction to the artist for the Pop Playlister team, and a track that will have you missing summer already.
Slowing it down with Sugar Parks’Misunderstood. An LA based singer-songwriter whose indie rock inspired sound is a pleasure to listen to. With bluesy undertones and a noir pop feel, Sugar Parks is a stand out artist in the world of indie. Misunderstood is a sultry track from the rising star, featuring gritty guitars and Sugar Parks’ powerful vocals. A subtly dark track from Sugar Parks that firmly places them on our ones to watch for 2020.
The final addition to this week’s Fresh Hit Radar playlist is the talented Myla Valentina. An English singer-songwriter whose dark pop tracks are full of ambient melodies and cinematic instrumentals. Freedom is a sultry song from the young Myla, bringing a strange sense of intensity and haunting to the typical happy go lucky Pop genre. With an EP due this year this is clearly lots more to come from the talented Myla Valetina.
Afro-Pop star JayQ The Legend has been making waves with his recent release titled Amazing Girl.
The stand out single has stormed through the black music charts to snag JayQ the number 2 spot, leaving even the biggest stars playing catch up.
You’d think the charts wouldn’t have much room for underdogs, with recent releases from stars such as Beyoncé, Cardi B & Megan Thee Stallion. Yet JayQ defies odds with his huge single Amazing Girl, climbing 3 spaces in just one week to snag the number 2 spot on the black music charts.
Amazing Girl is the feel good summer anthem we all needed, and is a tribute to all women JayQ explains-
“It is time we celebrate and respect women, and show them how truly amazing they are!”

Rising star Kelsey Coleman has wished a warm ‘Thank You’ to the UK after receiving immense support from the fans in the wake of her debut single Nobody.
Nobody was a power pop track from the wonderful Kelsey that made waves across radio and publications worldwide, but was particularly adored by Kelsey’s UK fans. As a thank you for their support of the single Kelsey Coleman has released a touching cover of Warren Zevon’s Keep Me In Your Heart, she comments-
“In the world today with what’s occurring and with all the conflict and anger, Keep Me in Your Heart is a message about peace and love, which I think we all need more of. I wanted to spread positivity and light to people and hopefully give people something to smile about. This is also a thank you to all the fans and supporters of my music and career so far. Japanese-British popstar Rina Sawayama has released a short teaser for an upcoming documentary on the making of her debut album, ‘SAWAYAMA’. The video features a collection of footage from her tours, studio sessions and day-to-day life.

Rina Sawayama released ‘SAWAYAMA’ earlier this year in April. In the trailer, the singer can be heard expressing her fears during its creation process.
“It’s scary to alienate some people,” she says of the shift from her 2017 EP ‘Rina’ to this album. “The sound has definitely changed. It’s quite sad and angry, and it kind of reflects my overall feelings towards the world.
“You just never know. People are savage online, you know? You never know how it’s going to get received. I can only make it super authentic to how I’m feeling. I could sell out on the second album, sure, but my first album is pretty precious to me, and I have a lot to say, lyrically.”
Rina Sawayama is one of the most exciting and innovative Pop talents in the UK. Rina’s style and flair is effortless, her 2020 album titles Sawayama was a true electro-pop dream and established her as a trailblazer for the next wave of contemporary Pop.
With the final days of June behind us, we can’t believe it either, we are officially over halfway through 2020. It’s been an eventful start to the year to say the least but it has blessed us with many great releases from artists across the globe. Here are just a few of 2020’s best releases so far.
First up is the Amsterdam based Latanya Alberto, a soulful singer who just recently came onto the Pop Playlister radar. Latanya blessed us with a trio of live tracks in May of 2020, a beautiful, ethereal and effortless display of her immense talent. Our personal highlight on the project is ‘Heart Rate -Live’, a track the Pop Playlister team have had on repeat for weeks. You’ll wish you’d know about Latanya Alberto sooner.
It would be impossible to talk about new releases without mentioning City Girl’s latest album ‘City On Lock’. The unapologetic duo exude powerful, feminine energy and have produced a host of feel good, hot girl summer anthems. With features from Doja Cat, Lil Baby and Yo Gotti the project is not to be dismissed. They may not be to everyone’s taste, but City Girls are an important show of assertive womanhood and command respect from the Pop Playlister team.
Next up is Teyana Taylor with her incredible, 23-track long project ‘The Album’. Teyana Taylor has already established herself as a major player in new wave R&B, but latest release ‘The Album’ confirms her status as a queen of the genre. ‘The Album’ is a diverse project, featuring huge names such as Erykah Badu, Missy Elliot and Ms Lauryn Hill. With some of the most stunning album artwork the Pop Playlister team has ever seen ‘The Album’ by Teyana Taylor is set to make it onto our albums of the year for 2020.
Last but not least is one of the best and biggest collaboration singles of 2020 so far. ‘End of Daze’ features EARTHGANG & JID, Jurdan Bryant, Mereba, Hollywood JB. A line-up you could only dream of ‘End of Daze’ is a punchy rap track, infused with soulful vocals of Mereba and co. Collaborations this powerful are few and far between.
